Is The Ridge House pet-friendly?

Accepted Answer

Genuinely and warmly, yes. Up to two dogs are welcome, with a pet fee of $50 per dog per stay. A couple of things worth knowing before you arrive: the property has no secure perimeter fencing, so dogs should be kept on leash on the trails to keep them safe in the bush. Fifty acres of private bushland, two walking trails through tall ash gums and fern gullies, and open grassland mean there is plenty to explore together. Can I book direct?

The simplest way to book is directly through the website at theridgehouse.com.au. Booking direct means you're dealing with Kristy personally, not a platform, not an algorithm. It gives us the chance to have a proper conversation about your stay, answer any questions before you arrive, and make sure everything is exactly right. There are no third-party platform fees built into the rate, and the booking relationship is between us from start to finish. If you have questions before you commit (dates, the property, a group booking, or a mid-week package) get in touch through the contact page. Kristy loves hearing from guests before they arrive.

What's included when we arrive?

Rather a lot, by design. Breakfast provisions to get your first morning started: Gippsland Jersey milk and butter, local sourdough, homemade jam, honey from our hives at Green Hills Farm next door, and fresh eggs. Two indoor wood fires, prepped and ready to light on arrival, with a full stack of firewood and kindling supplied. Plunger coffee, Nespresso pods, tea, hot chocolate and marshmallows. A fully equipped kitchen with a cast-iron dutch oven, cake pans, mixing bowls, and ample glassware. A picnic basket and rug for days out. Board games, giant Jenga, quoits, and an outdoor gas Weber BBQ. There's also a small pantry of local wines, jams, and condiments available to purchase during your stay, take home, or both.

How far is The Ridge House from Melbourne?

Ninety minutes. Leave after work on Friday and you're on the deck watching the valley turn pink before the sun goes down. The Ridge House is in Yarragon, West Gippsland. Straight down the Princes Highway, no mountain passes, no winding back roads. It's close enough to do on a whim, far enough to feel genuinely away. For a weekend getaway from Melbourne, 90 minutes is the sweet spot: you arrive with the week still on your shoulders and leave two days later feeling like yourself again.

How many guests can The Ridge House accommodate?

Accepted Answer

The Ridge House sleeps up to eight guests and two infants. There are three queen bedrooms, plus a fourth room with two single beds that can be configured as a queen on request at no extra charge. Everyone gets their own room. One portacot and one high chair are available on site for infants at no additional charge. If you're travelling with two infants requiring a portacot, please bring your own and get in touch before arrival so we can make sure everything is set up and ready to go.

Is there wifi? Can I work remotely from The Ridge House?

Yes. The wifi runs at 30.30 Mbps, which is reliable for video calls, file uploads, and a full remote working day. There's no dedicated desk setup, but guests work from the kitchen table overlooking the valley, and it turns out to be one of the better places to think you'll find 90 minutes from Melbourne. Kristy uses the space herself when she needs room to write or work through ideas. Something about the light, the view, and the quiet does something useful to your thinking.
